Global Fund for Kids is committed to supporting children and families by addressing basic needs that directly impact learning, health, and well-being. During the most recent holiday season, the organization donated nearly $10,000 to combat childhood hunger by replenishing food pantries in seven Rhode Island schools. These funds were distributed directly to schools, ensuring immediate access to groceries for students and their families.
Families can access food pantry support at Central High School, E-Cubed Academy, Veazie Street Elementary School, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School, A-Venture Academy, Nathanael Greene Middle School in Providence, and Thornton Elementary School in Johnston. By meeting families where they are, Global Fund for Kids helps reduce food insecurity and supports children’s ability to thrive academically and emotionally.
At Central High School, the impact of this support was deeply felt. As Ms. Renee Walker, Assistant Principal, shared:
“Central Cares cannot do the work alone. We are so grateful to Global Fund to End Childhood Hunger and Poverty for their more than generous donation. This support helped bring Thanksgiving dinners to families in the Central High School community.”
Beyond Rhode Island, Global Fund for Kids extends its reach internationally. The organization currently supports two schools in Kingston, Jamaica, funding free breakfast and lunch programs for children whose families are unable to afford school meals. These daily meals are essential to students’ health, attendance, and academic success.
When Hurricane Melissa, the worst hurricane ever reported to make landfall in Jamaica, devastated communities across the island, Global Fund for Kids responded swiftly. Through the generosity of donors and partnerships with the Jamaica Association of Rhode Island, the Church of God of Prophecy, Ebenezer Baptist Church, and Wanskuck Library, the organization collected non-perishable food, hygiene supplies, toiletries, and clothing for families most impacted. As part of ongoing recovery efforts, four jumbo water barrels have been shipped to assist communities with access to clean water.
Global Fund for Kids remains steadfast in its mission to support children by meeting essential needs, strengthening communities, and responding with compassion in times of crisis.
We wholeheartedly thank all of our donors and with their continued support, the organization aims to expand its reach by adding more schools in the coming year—ensuring that even more children and families have consistent access to nutritious food and critical resources.
Contributions of any size help make this work possible and allow Global Fund for Kids to deepen its impact locally and globally.
